There are lots of reviews here from the tech-savvie. This one is more for the technically daft, like me.

I hesitated for ages before buying this. Do I need a tablet? Is it just a toy?

I should not have waited. The Tabtech represents incredible value for money, and I’m now a complete convert.

You’ve got a PC. You’ve got a phone. Why do you need a tablet?

The answer for me, most of all, is if you travel. We had a few days away immediately after the Tabtech M010S arrived .

This meant I was able to:

    i) read books on the train
    ————————–
If you haven’t yet succumbed to an eReader, here’s the thing: if you’re travelling, you can carry as many books as you want without weight. This really is a bonus, and reading on the Tabtech is extremely comfortable. (Hold down a thumb on the side of the screen to get adjustment for brightness.)

    ii) keep up with emails
    ———————–
I strongly resist the idea that I’m so important I need to be in touch with everybody all the time. And I believe that holidays should be work free.

But in fact it’s much more relaxing knowing that you can check if anything important has come in, rather than returning to a mountain of emails. You just need the discipline to ignore stuff. I set up a special email address for the tablet, and copied home emails to that: that way I could just delete non-vital stuff from the tablet, knowing I could deal with it on the home computer on my return.

    iii) surf the net
    —————–
OK this is not SO vital unless you’re a net junkie. But it’s nice to be able to check stuff on the move – settle those arguments about the meanings of words, check opening times for tourist sites – etc, etc.

    iv) Download driving directions
    ——————————-
If you don’t like Sat Nav (yes, there are some of us!), it’s great to be able to get directions from Google Maps and copy them onto the tablet.

Then your passenger can have the tablet on their lap and give you step by step instructions. Works really well.

The bit I was unsure of – having so many functions on one device – is actually its greatest strength. And they all work well.

So all in all, it was a brilliant purchase, just for the few days we were away. And on returning home, it is actually great to be able to carry the thing about the house, using it where and whenever, instead of being tied to a PC.

What you WON’T want to do is any extensive typing, unless you have an extension keyboard like maybe this: New 7″ Inch Black Leather Look Case + USB Keyboard With Free Stylus & Stand Feature For Protection Of Your 7″ Tablet PC ePad aPad Device.

The Tabtech’s keyboard is OK for tapping in passwords or URLs, but you won’t want to write your thesis on it. Likewise, I found it easier to download books on the PC and copy them over via the Tabtech’s USB cable.

IMHO, Android is not quite the finished article yet: I see it as a phone OS grown big, rather than Windows grown small. But it is adequate for most purposes, and pretty easy to use. If you’re new to Android you’ll probably want to download the Android User Guide from Google.

A couple of final things: _DON’T_ worry about scratching the screen. There is actually a screen protector fitted: if scratches appear, they’re on the protector, not on the screen.

And you WILL want a case of some kind. I bought one of these Kit 7 inch Neoprene Notebook Case – Black, but I can’t recommend it. It’s substantially too big for the tablet which swims around in it.

At some point I’ll probably try one of these: New 7″ Inch Black Leather Look Case + USB Keyboard With Free Stylus & Stand Feature For Protection Of Your 7″ Tablet PC ePad aPad Device.

So if you think you might want one, but aren’t quite sure, stop hesitating and go for it. You don’t need to be a techie expert, it’s not scary, it IS useful, and you won’t regret it.

*** Everybody says it, but it’s true. Wendy Lou’s service is incredible. I asked for a specially quick delivery when I ordered on a Saturday. I got an email back – on Saturday – in no time, and the tablet arrived 8.15 am Tuesday morning. I don’t see how it could have been quicker.

My subsequent questions to Wendy Lou have been quickly, courteously and helpfully answered – again within minutes. What amazing service. Bravo.

I am absolutely delighted with this tablet.Originally I wanted a mobile device to download e-books from the library service as my local library may be closing. The ‘app’ I needed to do this(Overdrive Media Console)was readily available and soon up and running.I have enjoyed exploring this tablet for all the other things it does and now use it for e-mailing,looking at BBC and Sky news and getting weather forecasts etc. I am literally like a kid with a new toy! Every time I use it I find something new. I found it SO easy to connect to our home wi-fi broadband system and it even connects quicker than the laptop. I can’t praise this device enough, if you after a tablet that is not going to cost an arm and a leg – go for it!

Not Bad at all ! No frills but does the Job !, 14 Aug 2011
This review is from: NATPC M010S 7″ 2GB Google Android Tablet PC – 2.2 Android Tablet – Flash 10.1 – WiFi , Touchscreen, Epad, Apad, Genuine UK Android Market, Youtube, Facebook (Electronics)

The tablet arrived in 3 days which was quite good fast so thanks to wendy lou for that. Initially the tablet did not come with a plastic stylus and the adapter was semi faulty (trip wired) but a simple email on Thursday sorted out the problem as both items arrived on saturday morning. The customer service was 110%.
Now for the tablet itself. Where do i start..

The tablet is quite solid and the screen display is ok for the price. It runs flash (10.1) which was one of the main things that I wanted as well as to read my digital comics (cbz files)for which I download a comic book app.
The official android market is on the tablet which means that you can download so many apps. The wi-fi is not the fastest for sites such as youtube or iplayer. The wi-fi was so simple to set up.
The screen is not so responsive therefore the stylus is needed.
The screen can scratch quite easily so be careful with the pen when using against the screen. The kindle app is perfect and I downloaded a few books. One of the first things to do would be to buy a SD micro card as the memory is too little and is really just for the preloaded apps on the tablet. (san disk £13.99 16gb is good)

The music player on the tablet is a nice addition for any mp3 that you may want to download to the tablet and the sound output is not so great but with headphones its good.

The battery power is not so great either. It will last about 1.5 hours from full charge with wi-fi but about 3-4 without it. The Camera is a bit pointless and is not worth using at all as the picture are quite grainy. But its there anyway to use or not.

I would recommend to buy this tablet if you are thinking of getting a kindle as this does what the kindle does plus soo much more ! Good as a comic book reader (which again was my main focus)so im satisfied overall.

Overall a very good tablet for the price(£70) with plenty off apps however the video playback could be better for youtube but can`t complain for the price at all. I will probably give this to my niece or dad when I can afford a decent tablet with flash but this will do for a year or so.
