This review is from: EasyAcc UltraSlim Google Nexus 7 Case Smart Cover with Multiple Stand / Auto Sleep Wake-up for Nexus 7 Tablet ASUS 8GB/16GB (PU Leather, Black) (Electronics)
Just before I started writing this I checked the product description to see whether this was really a leather case. It certainly looks and feels like leather.
It’s actually made of “PU leather”. This is “a split leather with a layer of polyurethane applied to the surface and then embossed.” (Wikipedia). Apparently it was originally invented for the shoe industry but now used in a lot of products, like furniture because it’s easier to maintain.
All I can say it’s SUPERB. My case looks and feels like leather but at the price I paid for the case I didn’t believe it could be actual leather.
The corner “brackets” hold the tablet securely whilst protecting the corners very well indeed, the prime targets for damage.
The front cover is very strong to protect the screen; it feels reinforced and gives me a high level of confidence that it will protect the screen. It also has the magnetic catch integrated which just hooks round the back in an impressive way, keeping the cover closed but making it very easy to re-open.
It exudes quality and I have no issues getting this out in front of people who might otherwise look down on a “plastic” cover.
The magnetic “catch” or hook is worth a lot too. As you open the front cover the tablet wakes up. As you close it, it goes to sleep. How something that simple could be so hugely useful beggars belief!
There is only one downside. When used in a propped-up, landscape mode I have difficulty in getting it to stay in the flattest (most horizontal) position because the stiffness (it is brand new) of the hinged back cover causes it to spring back slightly. I’m trying to “work” the case (with the Nexus out of it) to make this part of it more supple. It’s already having a good result and I have no fears that I won’t be able to get it to lie almost flat eventually.
I’m impressed. It looks good, feels great (even smells great, of leather) and does what it is supposed to in protecting the tablet firstly, and letting it sit there propped up secondly.
SUPERB!

Well aren’t there a lot of cases for your nice new Nexus 7 – are you going cross-eyed yet?! if, like me, you can’t make your mind up, then take a tip and buy one of these. Bless Amazon reviews – I’m grateful to other folks who suggested how good this case is. The really stand-out feature for me is that it doesn’t cover the nice clean lines of the Nexus with straps to hold it in – it just gently snaps around the edge. Quality of leather/composite is superb and the way the thing holds the unit at an angle on your desk is inspired in its simplicity. Even though I have a couple of big monitors on my workstation (they’re usually busy doing something else) I find I tend to use the Nexus in its case to view mails and for other quick reference as it’s just so dammed handy. The magnetic sleep-on-close feature works great – the tablet wakes up on the page you were viewing when you shut it. I regularly commute to and from my office and meetings and just chuck the tablet/case on the passenger seat without any worries about it coming to any harm. (FYI: I also discovered that the entire thing will slip into the leg pocket of my working ‘Cargo’ trousers or into most jacket pockets.) In short this case perfectly compliments the lines of the Nexus 7, at the price it is an absolute bargain. Apart from the Nexus 7 itself, this is one of very few products that make me wish there was another star to award.

Fast delivery from EasyAcc. Well packed and good communications. The case itself – I selected black 1 without the pen. The case has clips on each corner so if it’s dropped it has a good chance of absorbing impact and therefore limiting damage. I deliberately didn’t go for the swivel type as I tend to use the device in Landscape mode anyway, and it’s easy and comfortable to hold the Nexus in portrait by hand – the case doesn’t get in the way. When used as a stand there’s no flopping around or falling over (unlike the 2 quid job I bought on Ebay {shudder}). The ONLY gripe – and this is a very minor one – is that you have to unclip the two clips at the bottom to use the case as a stand, and so when you go to close the case you have to remember to clip the corners back in. It’s a feature of the design but it means that all corners of the device are protected and it keeps the case slim.
Oh – and it has that magnet positioned which puts the device in sleep mode when it’s closed. That works perfectly.
Highly recommended
