This review is from: Xbox 360 Console 250GB Model with Kinect- Includes Kinect Adventures: Matte Black Finish (Console)

I bought this last year for my family and we have given it a good trial run; it is simply brilliant!

The console is cheaper than most of it’s competition, it looks modern and slick, the 250GB (space to store games, movies etc) is more than enough and the games available are fantastic.

To top it all off, the Kinect Sensor (intelligent camera) is a wonderful extra. This allows you to play games (with the Kinect sticker on them) without the use of a controller. The camera sensors your every movement and you can also see your every move on screen (A bit like having your own Avatar; if you saw the movie). The Kinect Adventures game that comes with this pack is a great game to get you and your family into how the system works, and it is so much fun for all ages.

The XBox offers so much, you can play with a contoller, with Kinect, online against friends or other online top gamers, download movies and much much more…

Top Tips: When buying normal XBox Games or Kinect Games make sure you shop around, as there are some fabulous deals out there e.g. Amazon, Xchange shops, EBay and even in-store during a sale. When using the Kinect Sensor ensure you clear a large enough space to move and jump around in i.e. around 2 square meters, give or take.

I have owned a WII and a PS3 but my whole family and I agree that this is by far the best so far; […]

Do you remember 15 years ago when tablet PC’s first launched? You’d touch one part of the screen and something an inch away would activate. It took a long time and then Apple came along with the same concept done right? Well this is kind of like that. You can see the potential immediately. However what is quite quickly apparent is it’s just not quite there yet. I played several of the games with my son and the annoying thing was the sensors would often fail to pick up on some movements. For example there’s a game when you punch to the left and right of you at High, waist height and Low level. Often it would sense high and medium levels but low required perhaps 2 attempts to get it to recognise the motion and sometimes you’d need to lean forward or step forward a bit. Don’t get me wrong … it is fun but it’s annoying and frustrating to lose games when it’s not down to ability but rather the technology isn’t mature enough. It’s like the old days of the wii. Nice concept but needed some more R&D. I guess we’ll see the next version much improved when they launch the XBOX 720 in the next 12 months.

I know Wii was fab and brill and did all those amazing things that were once only imagined a console could do. This is natural progression. Instead of a cumbersome controller you just scan yourself and then it ‘knows’ your body size. Move, run, flap, hit, whatever you do is transcribed onto the screen. I have been a nintendo fan of old, this is the only thing that has ever made me change ‘sides’. You get a real sense of immersion and you can get your bum off the settee too.
    Rock!
