In some ways it is a shame that this excellent phone feels the need to visually mimic the i-phone 4…after all, it is actually a wonderful Android device in its own right.
It arrived with all necessary charging paraphanelia (although I’d rather it used the new EU standard charger rather than a mimic of i-phone so that all our home chargers were interchangeable) and a massive bonus was the inclusion of a decent power-bank, ie.an separate external device which you charge up separately and can carry round for when/if your phone battery runs flat..you then use the supplied leads to connect into the bottom of your phone and away you go – extra power on the move!

For all who have previously used an Android device, life will be easy because you’ll soon work this little beast out, for others, you’ll be prodding around a bit and scratching your head but don’t let that put you off, it won’t take long to get up and running.
The customer service I have received from two Chinese companies (DrakoTek and HD Design) on 2 different recently purchased devices has been excellent, ok in order to communicate you must (correctly) go via Amazon as intermediary when you click on “Contact seller” in your orders section, BUT it is quick and both firms respond politely and accurately. I mention this because should you want extras (more spare batteries, an extra case, another mains charger) they employ what initially seems to be a weird system where you click on a link in their e-mail that takes you to an extra page in the Amazon system where you are requested to either click to purchase “make up cost”, or even end up clicking to buy some item you don’t want but which adds up to the same amount as the item(s)you do want. Believe me you CAN trust this, once you’ve done it just click a reply to the firm’s e-mail(don’t send at that point) then add your new order number into the reply e-mail and say something like “this is the payment for extras as arranged” and press send. It’ll happen, have no fear!

Right, back to this phone…you have to work it out for yourself as I was saying above because the instruction manual is nothing but a joke, a collection of Pidgin English and irrelevant data.
The top left of the phone is the on-off button, the + and – on the right hand side is volume, and the round button central bottom front doubles as a forward button into the apps etc., but also doubles as a back button once you use the browser and go online (via a click onto the blue world globe icon, and adding the site you want into the top url space as per normal for all browsers).
If you are a beginner and need to find the applications app (for adding wi-fi code, synching e-mail, changing time, brightening the screen, etc. etc.) just run your finger right to left across the screen and move the initial screen out of the way, and find the applications app on the second screen reveal. Click on it and away you go. INDEED FOR MOST USERS, HAVING PUT IN THE BATTERY AND ANY SIMS, THE MOST INMPORTANT INITIAL ACT WILL BE TO FIND YOUR HOME WIFI VIA APPLICATIONS AND ADD YOUR PASSWORD/CODE ETC SO YOU CAN THEN USE THE BROWSER ETC.
ALSO DO NOT FORGET TO FIND THE AUTO-ROTATE setting and tick the box, I spent ages thinking there was a fault because when I turned the phone lengthways the screen image stayed at vertical mode…the solution is of course simple, find the appropriate box via applications and stick a tick in it! You’ll be amazed how many people think the phone is faulty and want to send it back! Experts among you can ignore all this.

The back of the phone just needs slight thumb pressure downwards to click it loose, easy-peasy, then you’ll see 2 SIM slots on top right, and one mini-sd slot top left. You may as well order a 32gb sandisk or similar mini-sd card off Amazon (£13 or less) at the time you order this phone because the supplied mini-sd is only about 250mb’s and that’s nowt…however if you don’t intend storing lots of data, music, pics etc. just leave it alone, the phone’s internal storage is quite big.

Don’t panic at the choice of 2 SIM slots…we found it didn’t want to know our orange SIM in one slot, so we just swopped it into the other and it soon recognised and offered it as ok in there. Don’t panic either when it asks if you want it to roam, just say yes because a Vodaphone won’t roam to an Orange, or an Orange to O2 at that stage, it’ll just roam and then hook to the network to which it is tied. Double check by getting a mate to ring you on your normal number, send them a text, and if all seems normal, it is! As the phone itself is unlocked it’s up to you what goes into the SIM slots, the main phone companies can no longer own you! You dictate your own terms by choosing as you will.
I have not yet added another SIM into the spare slot but do intend to use a Giff-gaff or a 3 data-only SIM too, but I am assured by others that the phone will allow you to toggle to the…

I recently bought this phone and I can wholeheartedly tell you that if you’re ever considering it, it’ll be great for you too!

There are two main obstructions to people buying this – ‘Made In China’ quality doubts, and functionality worries. Let me reassure you…
    ____________________________

Quality – – – It feels much more expensive than it is. The vast majority of consumer electronics are made in China, and Chinese made no longer means cheap. Chinese buyers don’t want plasticy, tacky handsets, so why assume this is one? Obviously, it’s not iPhone quality – it’s made of tough plastic instead of aluminium and glass, but so what? A new, unlocked iPhone is quadruple the price. Buy this and roll of tin foil! It’s definitely on quality par with similarly priced phones.

I honestly think this is tougher than an iPhone – no glass to smash. It is almost identical to one, hence the repeat comparison – minutely wider and thicker, but only noticeable if you put it side by side with one. The volume controls are on the opposite side, but I’ve spent the last week asking iPhone owners what phone I have, then giggling at their expressions when I say it’s actually a £100 Android clone.

That is a major point though – THIS IS NOT AN IPHONE, or a Galaxy SIII or equivalent. How ever, it genuinely performs like one of these higher end devices, as I will discuss now.
    __________________________

Functionality — For context, I am a seventeen year old male student of the digital age! I use my phone a lot! And it does everything like lightning. It boasts processing power like that of high end branded phone, so be assured it will do all you ask of it.

I’ve tested Inception on it in HD and that worked fine, and I’ve also tested some graphics intensive games. No problems! It of course handles calls etc perfectly, and looks stunning and smooth running Android 4.0.

The speaker is very good at any price, and the headphone output is flawless. The screen is both very bright and of good viewing angle. It is also very responsive. The camera is okay for the odd snap for Facebook or Twitter.

The 3G Internet is absolutely great, and redeems the wireless, which is not great (still good!) – it works fine on the same floor as our router, okay on the second floor near to the room with the router, but not at all in distant second or third floor rooms. Normal homes should be okay though!

Finally, battery life is excellent, and normal use should give two days per charge at least. A spare battery is included anyway! I use it intensively (texts, Internet, games and music) and it lasts from dawn til dusk. I charge overnight.

The only two flaws are battery related. You have to be very gentle with the screen if using on charge, else it behaves erratically, and the back gets warm if you run a lot of programs like the combination in brackets above. These are Android issues though, and insignificant.
    __________________________

Well, that’s that. Brief conclusion – it costs 20% of a high end device like an iPhone or SIII, but offers 90% of the functionality.

    What are you waiting for?!

Don’t be put off by this unbranded phone. Once it’s set up correctly it works great. This will give any iphone or Android phone a run for it’s money…. except the GalaxyIII. Be aware of some apps that you may download, some conflict with the phone such as app lock. When i installed this I could not get any contacts up and the phone was very slow to respond, but once I deleted the app it all worked fine.
DracoTek delivered in record time, allways answered my emails and where a pleasure to deal with. iphone4 screen savers fit the screen great but the pouch is a bit of a squeeze as this phone is a little wider, but not much.
All in all a great phone for under a £100.
