The first thing I would like to say is that the delivery and service by DracoTek was brilliant, I ordered the phone and it arrived 9 days later in perfect condition, I would certainly order again from this seller, dont be put off because they are in China, I had a number of questions about the phone and they responded promptly and were very helpful, many thanks to Feebe and Easta.

After searching for an Android phone to replace my Sony Ericsson Xperia, I needed a reasonably priced phone with a big clear screen, so having read many reviews about a number of phones on different websites, there were two phones that stood out from the rest for value, quality and good specifications these were the Star N9770 and the Star A8000, both phones have great reviews, eventually I opted for the newer Star N9770 because the spec is a little better than the Star A8000 but is around £32 more expensive.

I must admit I was not expecting too much for the money but boy was I surprised by the quality of this phone, it comes with good packaging, a cover, a screen protector, 2 batteries, a phone charger/AC adaptor, 2 sets of earphones, a 256 sd card and a small instruction booklet.

The phone is really well made and is nice and slim with rounded corners and has a big 5 inch screen, the 8 MP camera can take pictures either from the screen side or from the back of the phone, it also has selectable dual Sim card slots which is a very handy function, this model has a fast MTK6577 Dual-Core 1.2GHz processor, the instruction booklet is quite limited but this was not a problem as the phone is very easy to set up and use, it loads up the internet pages very quickly indeed, I have replaced the 256 sd card with a Sandisk 32GB sd card as this model phone will take up to a 32GB sd card, now I have a huge amount of data storage, the batteries come with enough power to start the phone intially, but need a good overnight charge. The screen protector plastic over cover is printed with some of the phones specifications, and surprisingly it says “Super HD AMOLED Screen” I am not sure if this is correct or not because I could not see this information on the phones original specification. The N9770 is a fantastic piece of kit, when making calls the sound is very clear the functions and the operating system are really good indeed, the phone comes unlocked so it will take any network providers Sim cards.

Similar to a number of smart phones on the market this phone has no led indicator when in standby mode to show that it is charging or has a missed call etc, so the best fix for this slight niggle was to download the “No-Led” App, its a great little App that allows icons to be switched on to the screen when the phone is in standby mode, different colours can be selected for different functions IE yellow for emails, green for messages, red for missed calls etc, the App even has a power saving fuction and it also gives an indication that the phone is being charged.

The Star N9770 Android phone has many great features, it is easy to use, easy to set up, very fast and is great value for money, if you are considering buying an Android phone then its well worth taking look at this model, I am very pleased with this purchase and extremely happy with the service from DracoTek.

I recently purchased the Star N9770 mobile phone from Dracotek and have nothing but positive comments to add with regards to the product and service provided.

The phone itself is slight smaller in size than the Samsung Galaxy Note and despite having a slightly poorer screen and less performance you really would struggle to notice the difference.

This model as a slightly more powerful dual core processor (MTK6577) compared with the N8000 which also gets rave reviews on the Amazon site.

I had no problems setting the phone up with my existing sim, Google account and Google play apps within minutes and call quality appears to be good.

Also the service from Dracotek was great, having initially responded to my e mail request for information around this model and then delivering the item, in secure packaging within 7 days!

Really pleased with purchase. Will be back again.

Good phone, good screen, no compass, 7 Oct 2012

I agree with the other reviews so I’ll just add a few things:

    1. The phone doesn’t have a compass. I’m still working out how much of a practical impact that has – perhaps not much.
    2. Finding cases that fit is a problem as the Note cases have holes for flash and volume buttons in different places. I’ve gone for a fake leather wallet type case which works ok. There is an alternative back in the box which has a flap which folds over and protects the screen which is quite handy.
    3. Resolution of screen – is less than a note, but I haven’t found any practical application where this makes a difference to functionality – it is still very clear.
    4. Hacking the rubber sheath off headphones does make them fit. Of the two sets of headphones supplied, the ones that come with the phone are very plasticy and unpleasant. The ones added by dracotek are quite nice but have a metal sheath so you can’t hack it with a knife – so no point in having them with this phone.
    5. The weight of the phone has not been an issue. For its size it doesn’t feel heavy in the hand.
    6. Camera is 8MP – but it is really not very good and only takes pictures of about 3MP quality. My wife’s 5MP Galaxy Ace takes *much* better pictures.
    7. GPS doesn’t work well – it struggled to get and hold a connection. So far I would say it is practically useless.
    8. When I plug it into my stereo to play music, one channel makes a loud thumping noise making it unlistenable. My wife’s Samsung works with the same setup with no issues. So this is not one for mobile DJs.

Overall I’m happy at the cost, although now the older model is down to not much more than £100 I may have chosen that one if I bought again, as CPU does not seem to be an issue so far for me (I’m not a gamer).

The only dissapointment is that when it says GPS and 8MP you have a certain expectation, so I’m downgrading to 4 starts due to that.
