I have a Google Nexus 7 tablet and lament the lack of either external storage or SD card. Was thinking of ditching it until I learned about OTG cables and a very cheap app (you will also need this)- Nexus Media Importer. It works like a dream. Now I can access all my mp3 files and play them via my SD card or USB stick. Total cost – about £3. Go for it.

I have been using this with an Archos G9 80 tablet, so I can confirm it does work with this device. It works perfectly with less power-hungry USB devices such as a mouse or keyboard, though unsurprisingly I found it does not generate enough power to run my 1TB USB hard drive on its own. I got round this problem by hooking the hard drive up via a dual power USB connector such as this: Nexons USB 2.0 Cable – Dual Power, 2 x Type A to Mini-B 5 Pin (the second connector should be inserted into any kind of powered USB socket and provides enough additional charge to run the hard drive).
In short, it can handle even larger devices as long as they are provided with an additional power source. So far I have been running movies from an external hard drive through my tablet without any problems.

the cable works perfectly with my nexus 7. I use it with a memory stick and sd card reader. I am very happy with the product.
