This PS3 controller does exactly what it says on the tin. It connects to the PS3 via bluetooth, and accepts RF remote control codes from my Logitech Harmony universal remote (650). All I had to do was to plug it in, switch on and select the correct bluetooth Connection menu on my PS3, press the red button on the base of the adaptor, and hey presto – all done. It took seconds.
But. The adaptor has a green light on it that is unnecessarily bright – or totally unnecessary dependant upon your point of view. Lights off, settle back to watch a BluRay movie – and it is impossible not to notice the little green beggar. Logitech must have used military grade technology to make sure you could see the light from a good mile away.
So – as a functional device, the adaptor is beyond reproach. It even looks quite sexy – sleek and black. The mains adaptor cable is long and thin. The instruction leaflet is clear and easy to follow. But you might want to buy some black tape or a tin of paint to dim the experience.

Like others have said in their reviews the Logitech Harmony PS3 Adaptor works well. The adaptor allows you to control all of your PS3 media capabilities including BBCi Player and Vidzone using your Harmony remote control. The way the PS3 BBCi Player interface has been re-designed by Sony allows it to be used with a remote control such that the up, down, left and right remote control buttons direct the onscreen pointer to snap to the on-screen BBCi buttons – unlike before where you would have to navigate a mouse pointer with your PS3 Controller thumbsticks, meaning you couldn’t use a remote control for the BBCi Player. So, all-in-all the Harmony Remote and Adaptor work well with the PS3.
The one and only problem I’ve found with the Logitech Harmony PS3 Adaptor is that if you switch your Harmony PS3 Adaptor off at the mains wall socket when you come to switch it back on your Harmony PS3 Adaptor will auto switch-on (power-up) your PS3 whether you like it or not. The main reason this is a design flaw is that say if you decide to leave your PS3 on standby (red light) and your Harmony PS3 Adaptor switched on all of the time (to get around aformentioned problem) then it means if you have a power cut then when the power to your home comes back on then your PS3 will be auto switched on when you’re not even in the house. Probably best to configure your PS3 to auto power-down after a period of inactivity (can be done through the XMB settings).
One final thing – you can create a ‘Sequence’ in your Harmony Remote Control configuration account (the web based Harmony programming tool) to configure a one button press to take you instantly into BBCi Player. All it needs in the sequence is three left button presses and an ‘enter’ button press and then assign it to a Harmony Remote button – hey presto from PS3 switch on you can launch the BBCi player at the touch of one button 🙂

Decided to buy this product after investing in a Harmony Remote. I have to say for the price it does a pretty fantastic job. Incredibly easy to set up and use within a few minutes of installing. You will no longer be able to use a PS3 remote if you had one but all functions are duplicated on your harmony remote anyway.
The turn off, of the PS3, does take a little time but when you realize how complex that is to achieve on a PS3, ie what mode are you in; TV link, BluRay, Games etc, it is able to achieve the task every time. Sometimes you may wonder if it has failed however, patience for 10 to 20 seconds will turn off the system every time.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with a PS3 in their AV set up, providing you also use a Harmony remote of cource. It easily controls the whole system making it easy to configure BluRay playback or other PS3 media task.
