    Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Apple iPod touch 32GB 5th Generation – Blue (Latest Model – Launched Sept 2012) (Electronics)

Just got mine this morning thanks to Amazon Prime after seeing it “in stock” yesterday.
Was a nice surprise considering most people seemed to think it’s not out until the 31st.
The 5th Gen iPod Touch is without a doubt, a worthy upgrade. About twice as fast as previous iPod Touches, so you will notice a significant difference in speed if you’ve had one of the older models.
I’ve had all revisions since the second gen and this one blows them all out of the water.
The display is amazing (same as the iPhone 5’s), the camera is VERY nice and much better than in old iPods (5MP for photos and you can film in 1080p!).
You’re pretty much getting the features of an iPhone 4S (inc. Siri!)
MINUS the phone function PLUS the new bigger and better screen.
I also really like what they have done with the shape, how light it is and that the back isn’t shiny anymore.
Definitely can recommend this. Yes, it may cost a bit more than the last gen but it IS worth it.
(Just for the record, I’m anything but an Apple Fangirl but credit needs to be given where it’s due 🙂 )

i bought an ipod touch 5th generation in argos not amazon but felt the review might be of some use. firstly goodbye horrible chrome back and welcome the new aluminium back but i do think this new generation feels somewhat cheap compared to the 4th generation but the display is amazing and the video is even better. the screen looks bigger the sound is also louder coming from the built in speaker. this is very light in the hand and as i said before feels a bit cheap but at £270 its not. but i guess that technology has come on since 2010 from the 4th generation and thats the way it is. the internet experience is superb with crystal clear images and web pages too. the first thing i noticed was how fast the browser loads compared to the other generations of the ipod touch. worth the money and i recommend the new 5th generation ipod touch.

    A solid replacement, 7 Nov 2012

I was a big fan of the 4th generation iPod touch so I was very eager to try out it’s 2012 replacement. For the most part, I’m very impressed. It does have some issues and design flaws, but ultimately its a very worthy upgrade to one of my favorite mobile devices.

It’s new design is probably the touch’s largest issue. It’s thinner and somehow even lighter than the new iPhone 5 and feels great resting in your hand, but the smooth, polished back soaks up scratches very easily. Also the camera being raised slightly from the back of the iPod makes it vulnerable to damage and the new ‘Loop’ feature really isn’t much more than a gimmick. The vibrant array of colors available is a really nice touch though.

Performance wise, the 5th generation iPod touch is truly outstanding. It performs just as responsively as iPhone 5 and yet packs an even brighter retina display. Everything you see on this device looks razor-sharp, and a step above even the latest iPads in some ways. You’ll notice a faster response in just about everything you do from loading content and playing games, to surfing the web and browsing the app store. Teamed with the incredible new features of Apple’s iOS6 and these improvements make for a formidably capable piece of kit. Battery life has also been substantially improved to around 10 hours music playback, more than 4 hours longer than the 4th generation.

What’s more, all your content is made more accessible more of the time thanks to the iPod’s new and vastly improved WiFi system, which connects to more networks and loses signals it finds a lot less regularly. Apps like FaceTime and online games feel noticeably smoother as a result of this. Battery life is likely to plummet if you’re constantly online, as it does with all products, but that isn’t a big price to pay for the first iPod touch ever to run the latest and fastest networks, including EE 4G.

Overall, the iPod touch 5th generation has a few architecture issues, but performs in a different class to anything you’ve ever held in one hand. The speed and responsiveness this device gives you for such remarkably little cost is genuinely outstanding. Other than physically making phone calls, it makes the £300-more-expensive iPhone 5 seem pretty much redundant.
