This review is from: Lenovo Ideapad Z580 15.6 inch laptop – Gunmetal (Intel Core i7 3520M 2.9GHz, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb HDD, Blu-ray, Nvidia Graphics, Windows 8) (Personal Computers)
I have never had a Lenovo product before so I did not know what to expect. I need not have had any misgivings – it is simply a superb machine, fast and powerful – easily the best laptop of the four I have previously owned. It is light but well made and has a solid and reliable feel to it. It is high spec and comes with Windows 8 – which you either love or hate – and some superfluous software. It also has McAfee antivirus which I have removed and replaced with my tried and trusted Vipre Antivirus. I am truly delighted with my buy and can thoroughly recommend it.

Absolutely brilliant laptop. Lightweight, powerful, fast and great looking.
I did a lot of shopping around before deciding on this laptop, ended up buying it from another site as they were advertising Lenovo’s cashback deal on this model. So for around the £500 mark this is probably the best thing you can get pound for pound.
The sound quality with the Dolby Home Theatre is exceptional – watching movies and listening to music doesn’t require a purchase of extra speakers, not tinny or flat at all. Warm, detailed surround sound.
Plays a wide variety of games on at least Medium/High settings without stuttering, and this is with the Intel HD 4000 integrated version! Not liquidy or jittery.
I use this for working from home and on the go, it travels well and is ready to go in an instant. I can have a bunch of different apps and browser windows open, alongside spreadsheets and Photoshop CS6, and it runs smoothly and quietly. Keeps cool and I can run it for a good 4 hours or so at full performance quality.
The resolution isn’t perhaps as high as some other models in the same bracket but the visual quality is still really pleasing.
I love the performance and design of this laptop. Real value for money compared to other popular laptops.

Really struggled choosing between this one at £499 and the one at £549, with 2GB more Ram and a dedicated graphics card. But in the end went for this, as I do not game. Has so far seemed the right decision.
Good. Seems pretty quick, it starts up fast, about 20seconds and you are good to go. I have experienced no lag so far while multi-tasking. Norton hasn’t seemed to slow it down, when performing it’s background tasks, like it did with my last laptop. The keyboard on this is excellent. One of the best I have used on a laptop. Seems well made and solid. Fan is quiet. It looks really nice, but it is not silver in colour, like in the photos. It is infact a darker silver with a dark purple tinge to it. It has very good speakers for a laptop, not far off the quality of a decent TV, but with less bass. There is no distortion even on max. This machine gets a Windows score of 5.1. Graphics letting it down. Everything else is higher, up to 7.5. Has a nice clear screen, depending where you are, the screen is really quite glossy.
Bad. The touch pad is a bit too big and hard to use, have bought a wireless mouse. The screen is very glossy, I am considering purchasing anti glare film for it. There was quite a lot of bloatware on it, took a while to clean it up. The battery lasts realistically around 3 hours of use, using the web and watching videos on the highest performance setting. Not really that bad. Viewing angles are pretty poor.
Overall a good buy, especially with the £75 cash back from Lenovo. I Genuinely think this is the best laptop for total price of £425 I could find at the time.
Would be 5 stars if the screen was not so glossy.
