This review is from: The Stolen Child (Short Reads) (Kindle Edition)
This is a quick short read by Brian McGilloway, and the first two chapters of his novel, Little Girl Lost. The Stolen Child is about a couple who have had a miscarriage. The wife, Karen keeps hearing a baby crying on the child monitor, so her husband calls the police after walking the road, to see if the monitor is picking up cries from another household. Where he believes the cries are coming from seems to be incorrect, as the house is owned by a single man.
Ultimately he has no option but to investigate himself. This starts out as a psychological novel, and then by the end turns into more of straight crime novel. Ideal reading over a cup of tea.

This review is from: The Stolen Child (Short Reads) (Kindle Edition)
Never fully recovered from the death of their baby, Karen spends her days huddled over a baby monitor listening in vain for her son’s cry. Then the unthinkable happens, she hears that cry! Michael her husband is deeply concerned for her sanity until he hears it too. This may be short, so you may feel disappointed if you were expecting a novel but it is perfectly formed with tension, bright characterisation and a neat little twist.
This is a virtuoso display of the writer’s skill to tempt you to buy his novel and if this story is anything to go by, it has done its job as far as I’m concerned.

great 10 minute read,
Hadn’t realised this was a short story when I downloaded it – but in the end I was very glad I did. Go for it!
