just the player. It is a lovely size with a very responsive screen and superb sound quality (with my own Creative ep630 earphones). The music transfers on to it really quickly from itunes and I love it for that. The new earphones aren’t worth me even bothering to take them out of the box as I know from looking at the shape they won’t stay in my ears, but my big question for Apple is who the hell designed the box? It is impossible to close once everything has been removed (and don’t forget I didn’t take the earphones out so they’re still in there as they were packed and I didn’t put the charging cable back in as I’ll need to use it). The only reason that didn’t end up being smashed to bits is because I might need it if the player goes wrong. I love the player, though.
An update. It is being exchanged by Apple for another one next week as the battery is only lasting about two hours. However, that does seem to be a common problem with them. If was able to return it to the place I bought it from (they said I can’t because I’ve used it – der, how was I supposed to know it was faulty if I didn’t?) I wouldn’t get another one. I’ve got a year’s warranty with Apple, though, so I can see myself having a new one every so often if it isn’t just my one that’s got the problem.

I bought this item from abroad to replace my last ipod but because of the new connection pin which I was not aware of , I sent it back!!! I found out the new one now does not fit my car stereo and to remove the connection for the new i-pod means I would have to remove my stereo out of the car and buy a new lead if i can find one to fit my Alpine S. Also this new i-pod will not fit my BOSE Docking station and if I got a new Adapter (if available) to fit that as well , it will not stand up correctly and cost me an extra £50 for 2 leads needed. Apple could have left the connection pin the same but its just a money making scam..it already cost £129 to buy then 2 leads for car stereo & Docking Station, a total of £179.00!!! Ripping of B****** ,, i liked Apple until now but now this is the end of my love affair!!!!!!
