This review is from: The Dark Knight Rises (DVD + UV Copy) (DVD)
I’ve been going to the cinema for 40 years but rarely have I seen a film which so spectacularly delivers. This film is the type cinema was created for – sound, lighting, cinematography, music, acting, script and pure excitement and suspense are all choreographed to incredible effect. It’s a huge film in every way and I left the cinema feeling like I’d been treated to something extraordinary. Not since the likes of Blade Runner or the first Star Wars film have I felt so completely knocked out by a film. It will inevitably lose a little on the small screen but, nevertheless, I’ll be first in the queue for the DVD. Fabulous.

This is an epic conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. If you liked the other two movies you will absolutely love this. There are not many movies that can live up to the hype but this certainly does. For me this movie went far above expectation and is a very satisfying end to a great trilogy.
This movie is slightly longer then the first two (2 hours 45 Minutes) but is entertaining all the way through, there is not a single dull moment. The score for the movie is brilliant, Hans Zimmer is a genius and delivers all the way through.
The cast is fantastic, once again Christian Bale delivers an excellent Batman. Tom Hardy steps into the shoes of Bane and does a fantastic job. Anne Hathaway makes a really good Catwoman, she is an absolute show stealer. Michael Caine gives us a very heart moving performance. From the moment you see Joseph Gordon-Levitt you know he’s destined for bigger things.
They done a real good job with Bane’s character. He is not the mindless brute portrayed in earlier Batman movies. Remaining true to the comics Bane is one of the more smarter and terrifying villains that Batman has encountered.
The whole trilogy is so well written and if this movie was not entertaining enough, Christopher Nolan throws in a few twists. This is definitely a must see movie and one to add to you collection.
This is the best film that I have seen so far this year and I can not wait until it is available to buy.

I’ve never felt compelled to review anything good before. Most people who review are either angry or ecstatic. I can see, in this film, how both points of view can exist. I am ecstatic. Mostly at the attempt than the execution. Nolan, with this trilogy has reminded us that regardless of age most people are famiiar with Batman, so he has created a trilogy that speaks to as wide an audience as possible. To both the wee kids and the old adults – remember Batman first appeared in the late 1930’s.
But leave expectations at the door because Batman is not the Adam West from TV nor the lycra clad comic book figure, nor the Tim Burton Edward-Scissorhands-in-a-gothic-nightmare Batman. The cinematograpy alone is an indicator that this is “what if Batman was real”. Pretend you’ve never seen it before. Remember that personal taste is not an indicator of good or bad…only an indicator of personal taste. Judge on the merits of the film as a whole and what is trying to be said.
Awesome was the word I had in mind when I left the cinema….then next day the Man of Steel trailers appeared on Youtube…more Nolan! How he accomplishes the portrayal of Superman in a “what if Superman was real?” way is something I cant wait to see…and Zak Snyder filmed the unfilmable Watchmen – also a plus!
