    Fantastic Collector’s Set!! But.., 1 Mar 2012

This review is from: Nightmare On Elm Street 1-7 [Blu-ray][Region Free] (Blu-ray)

I’d gladly give this Set 5 Stars if not for the following issues: 1) Only the 1st in the Series (Part 1) has 7.1 HD DTS Dolby Digital Surround (for some reason). The rest only have 5.1 DTS HD Surround. 2) Also, the images in the background become ‘pixelated’ in some of the films. 3) One more thing – the Bonus Disc (DVD) is Region-Locked for play only in European DVD/Blu-Ray Players. This isn’t mentioned in the product description AT ALL. It simply says ‘Region Free’, but that only applies to the 4 Blu-Ray Discs. Other than the aforementioned discreppancies, it’s a fantastic buy! $45 (USD – including Shipping) is a wonderful deal. If bought at the U.S. Amazon Website, you’ll pay at least $80 for a USED Set!! Get it from here, but you may need a Region Free DVD Player for Disc 5 (Bonus Disc). Thank you for reading! This was a lot to type via Touchscreen Cell Phone! ;~D

At last a slightly better set of nightmare films for the U.K, these are a classic collection of horror movies from the 80s up until the early 90s, Freddy Krueger is pretty much a legend now and an iconic movie maniac, its great to see a full set on blu ray its just a shame about the lack of extras, the original film gets a few but the others miss out, the U.S box set on DVD is amazing with tons and tons more extra stuff, this is still worth picking up if you dont have them already, classic horror with many great stars like Johnny Depp, Lawrence Fishburn, Robert Englund, Kim Myers, Patricia Arquette and many more. Plenty of blood and classic one liners from Freddy.

This has been released in the Netherlands this week so I can review it already. The slipcase is the same as pictured here and upon opening it there was a small Nightmare on Elm Street comic book added that I was not aware of being included so that’s a nice treat. The 4 blu-rays + bonus DVD (5 discs in total) are cased in 1 plastic box. No further fancy packaging here but hey – it’s all about the movies anyway. Disc 1 has the exact same contents as the blu-ray that is available seperately and the next 3 discs all have 2 movies from the series. Each movie has it’s own menu and quality wise there is NOTHING to complain here. Yes, you can have 2 movies on 1 blu-ray disc in blu-ray quality. The movies all look -and sound- as good as the first nightmare that was already released seperately. The box is loaded with (mostly already known) extra features and although I was a bit annoyed that the bonus disc is a DVD and not a blu-ray I realised the 3 hours of bonus materials were shot in standard definition anyway so that justifies a bonus DVD. At last my favourite cult series is on blu-ray and the price is absolutely right for the very good job that Warner Brothers did on remastering all 7 movies !
