This review is from: Panasonic DMC-TZ25EB-K Compact Camera – Black (12.1MP, 16x Optical Zoom) 3 inch LCD (Electronics)

This is an initial review – I will update with more detail after a few weeks, but here are the first impressions:

I’m not a hobbyist photographer, so this is what I think as an enthusiastic amateur. I checked all the reviews first, and this meets high expectations. I want the best pictures I can get without relying my skill – hence this camera. This fits the bill: it’s cleverer about photographs than I am. I also need something I’ll take with me – so not too bulky. I spend time outdoors, so particularly wanted a wide angle.

    Cons

    – It is quite bulky – not really pocket sized, unless you have large pockets (luckily I do) and don’t mind them bulging…
    – Controls are fiddly, if you have big fingers. They do work fine, and feel fairly robust
    – Screen menus are not the most intuitive – you will need to read the manual to find things
    – Functional rather than elegant or stylish design! Not a problem for me, but it’s a brick rather than a jewel to look at
    – No viewfinder – I don’t miss this as much as I expected, but you do depend on the screen

    Pros

    – Image quality. Very good, and versatile. Automatic function works very well
    – The Wide Angle lens – I really notice the difference over a 28mm.
    – Zoom and stablisation are excellent – you can actually take hand-held shots at full 16 times zoom with reasonable focus
    – Separate button for movies, and the physical controls are well thought out
    – Case seems solid and well made

    Interesting

    – Many scene options, including some odd ones – sport, night, mountains all fine – but food?
    – Menus are context sensitive – so some options don’t appear if you select “auto”, for example.
    – Physical controls rather than touch screen – depends which you prefer: I like buttons and dials.

    Overall

    – It’s all about the pictures: so far, very good – seems able to do well in a wide range of situations. Perfect!
    – Functionally a step up from the Canon Ixus it replaces, but still (fairly) easy to take with you
    – Responds quickly: you can shoot from a standing start quite well
    – Loads of functions to play with and explore
    – Seems an excellent and versatile lens – from 24mm wide angle (love it) to a surprisingly usable 16x zoom.

So far, very pleased. I’ll update later, but first impressions are: a really nice bit of kit – a clever camera that does what it should, and some more.

Have to admit I was quite surprised by the image quality, even at hard conditions. I don’t expect cameras to do miracles – use it right, and it will serve you well.
The zoom gets surprisingly clear details from large distances. I don’t expect it to replace a professional zoom SLR on a tripod, as some reviewers seem to expect… take it for what it is – and enjoy the excellent resultes.

I’ve used it a whole week while on a motorcycle trip in Germany. Fits well into the jacket pocket – although it would be too bulky to fit in bathing shorts back pocket, but come on! Buy a smaller camera if the back pocket of the bathing shorts is the most important criteria!

HDR functions well. On iA it wouldn’t always realize that it’s needed, but try 2-3 times from the same angel, or set it manually (choose a scene) and the results will surprise you.

Video quality good as well, but I hardly use that option, so I don’t know how far you can push it.

Amazingly sharp macros from just an inch from target. You can use it to point and shoot, and you don’t have to worry about your hand shaking a little after a few pints. Or you can set it manually. I still haven’t figured out the full manual setting, but I havn’t used too much time studying it either, I use my DSLR for those shots.

Do NOT compare a pocket size camere with a DSLR equipped with good optics, as you don not compare your phone with a personal computer.

very nice and crisp clear picture in outdoor, but still struggling to produce good result in indoor especially in low light.

    Amazon service was excellent.

so far is very good apart from one problem i found that is moving focus point manually. still i could not find any options to move focus point from one object to another. Like Panasonic TZ30 you can touch the screen any where and choose the focus point as you wish. For this issue i gave a four star rating.

No manual guide for the beginner.

Video recording is nice and ok.

Got the £30 cash back and very happy for that and suggest to buy from amazon not from the amazon market place.

Free Camera case that comes with the camera is too big almost double for the camera.
