I’m afraid Cheap does mean Nasty – Avoid at all costs, 16 Jun 2012

This review is from: iPod & iPhone USB Sync Cable – White (Electronics)

I bought this as a quick replacement because I needed to sync with iTunes but couldn’t find my original cable.

Within seconds of connecting this cable to the USB port to sync with iTunes smoke started emerging from the iPod end and the plastic casing started melting. I suspect a poorly made high-resistance connection has caused it to overheat. My iPod Touch is now stuck in recovery mode and iTunes can’t see it even though I have now found the original Apple cable.

Maybe if the manufacturer spent a little more time on testing their products, rather than spending all of the 99p cost on trying to fake the Apple packaging, then they might actually be able to make something that works.

Avoid this cable at all costs. A few positive reviews does not negate the fact there is no QA on these products and one unlucky cable could permanently damage your iPod/iPhone which will not be covered under warranty. It is simply not worth the risk.

I bought this to replace a mislaid Ipod Nano 4Gb lead, I’m pleased to say that it works fine, my children have tried the same lead on their Iphones and it works on them too, I dare say it works on everything that it mentions in the advert.

After reading reviews for this item from various suppliers, I plumped for this particular one. Thought I had nothing to lose at the price.
When the item was recieved I couldn’t believe the quality, so much better than the original lead supplied by Apple which had split where the wire joins the USB. This seems to be Apples achiles heel! I also like the way the lead locks into the ipod. I thoroughly recommend this product
